Started in 1980 as the first program of it's kind in California, the HELP of Ojai's Volunteer Security Patrol acts as "extra eyes" for it's co-sponsor, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, which interviews and trains all applicants. Crime prevention programs include:

• Vehicle and Foot Patrol
• Residential & Commercial Security Checks
• Vacation House Checks
• Neighborhood Watch & Block Parent Programs
• Traffic Control & Security for Local Events
• Bicycle Safety and the Annual Bicycle Rodeo
• McGruff Dangerous Stranger presentations

A partnership with the Oak View Resource Center assists Sheriff's Deputies in that community by providing law enforcement services which highlight safety and preventive measures.
